Who is Climate Change Education.Org

We are a volunteer organization. Most of us are either docents and interns at California science centers and museums. Or... students, scientists and staff at the University of California, Berkeley..

Hands-on science demonstrations is our specialty--our principle contribution to the body of original educational material. An example is the Global Warming Discovery Demo -- a favorite at science centers and museums, in K 12 schools, UC classes, and at large community events.

Much of our work is bridge-building, encouraging partnerships in education. The California Catalog is a web version of this.

About this Catalog; its goals and purpose

The catalog is an on-line resource center visited each month by thousands of students, teachers, and others working in the field of education.

Building educational partnerships is a principle goal. We are working to bring people and programs together that can help one another. In this effort, the catalog serves as a common reference point, a place from which to discover and explore the programs and web sites of others.

Our perspective is not only to encourage California's educational institutions to work well with each other: e.g. K 12 schools, science centers, universities, and public television. But to foster partnerships bringing together the sectors of our state: such as cities, state agencies, community organizations (non-profits), and businesses. Education needs support to thrive. In turn, efforts to build a sustainable California will itself be un-sustainable without strong public education.

Funding is painfully needed and in short supply for education. A goal of the catalog is to bring together important funders and wonderful education projects, highly worthy of support. We are encouraging leveraging and efficient use of funds, the sharing of resources, while discouraging unnecessary duplication of efforts.

The catalog itself promotes scores of California education programs in a powerfully effective, cost efficient way.

Its web pages are designed to be printer friendly, easily shared, and to work well on computers new and old.

The main purpose is to be an aid in strengthening and expanding leading educational programs, while helping new efforts to get off the ground, and to flourish.

Our Portal Web Sites

Portal Websites such as ClimateChangeEducation.Org and GlobalWarmingCalifornia.Net play a special role. Here, visitors can find hundreds of links to great resources in a subject of their interest.

If you have an educational program and web pages on climate change and/or energy, our site is the place to be -- especially if you seek a larger audience, or if you are interested in making connections and forming partnerships. Being on-line is one thing, but with web sites now numbering over 100 million, being found by quality visitors is another thing. We reach tens of thousands of teachers and students each month. A high percentage bookmark us. There is no charge to be on the site. Link Up

For web visitors, especially those doing serious research, a good portal site is a highly valuable find. Here are scores of resources, organized to help you find what you are looking for; new discoveries on every page; put together by people who care and are involved in your subject of interest. Automated search engines are amazing tools; but they can't compare to hub /portal web sites in the quality of information they provide.
